Compass needle always point towards North is something kids might be questioning themselves, right? It is a pretty cool question. It does this because our planet earth has a thing called a magnetic field. It helps us a lot because that magnetic field is very useful in blocking deadly rays coming from sun. You might think of it as an enormous invisible force field that wraps around our world. This shield is made by the hot, melted iron core at the center of Earth. Amazingly, we are not standing on solids all the way down, but there is hotter and more liquid part in the very center of our Earth.
At some point, scientists learned that the Earth's magnetic field is not a constant. That’s right. Sometimes, it even flips, just like the Rich Countersunk magnets. If you are pointed due North and suddenly your compass points South, that can happen. However, this flip can happen so the North pole can turn into the South pole and vice versa for the South pole turning into North. That said, this is over millions of years. Therefore, we will not live to see it come true and so it shall not affect us within our own lives.
So, do you want to know how our Earth is different from other planets of the solar system? Its the Magnetic field of Earth. The magnetic field is something like a vast magnet that affects many things on our planet, just like Cylinder magnets. One of them is to allow birds and other migrants to follow on their route. They sense the magnetic field and navigate for thousands of miles. It is kind of magical how nature works.
The magnetic field of the Earth benefits also our technology. Life as we know it would be vastly different without it. Our magnetic field holds our air in place prevents it from escaping out into space, and at the same time protecting us from harmful rays that come from the sun. That sure is something to be grateful of for the magnetically-terran nature that keeps us in place so safely every single day.
The magnetic field extends far beyond the Earth's surface. It is true. The magnetosphere extends far up into space and forms an invisible bubble around the planet. This magnetosphere plays with the charged-particles coming from our sun, and when they bump in to each other they emit a magical light show aka aurora. People can see these lights in parts of the world like the Arctic and Antarctic, where they appear as shimmering, dancing curtains of green lights.
You do know how scary earthquakes are. But few would realize that some of the magnetic energy is released by earthquakes as well. Such unique earthquakes are named magnetic earthquakes. They occur when the rocks in the Earth split apart and slip suddenly on a fault. When this moves abruptly, an electrical current is produced that creates a magnetic field, that why Rich Neodymium Magnet was created as well. It is amazing how destruction can create energy.
We know that distinctly to anything else, Earth is dynamic and therefore has a special relation with magnetism such as Rich Peculiar/Customized magnets. From the ubiquity of the energy released during earthquakes to how we find our way with compasses, this relationship impacts everything that we do. The importance of this relationship is one that can be understood even by the slowest, dumbest human on Earth - And whether or not we would like to see it continue for more than a few centuries longer, the catastrophic collapse of industrial society (and civilisation with it) will end this current phase before much longer.
