You like to play with magnets and see how they attract or repel. If so, you may know of a very unique type of magnet known as neodymium magnets. Labeled as the most powerful magnets on earth! We use them in a lot of stuff like motors that power machinery, headphones to listen to music, and pretty jewelry that people wear. In this post, we are going to talk about Rich's mini neodymium magnet which just has an amazing pull and let me do some really cool stuff that I learned in... today.
Neodymium magnets consist of three specifical materials: neodymium, iron, and boron. They may be tiny but they are mighty! They can do a same with metas like Iron, Nickel and Cobalt over few centimeters. That power is why Rich's tiny neodymium magnet are a great illustration of how strong magnets like this could turn out to be. It's astonishing what these can hold!
Neodymium Magnet 1/4 x 1/16This is the small neodymium magnet used in many of Rich's exciting projects! You can use it to DIY your fun things at home or in school. And have you ever wished to build a motor all by your very self? It’s easier than you think! You are going to use an copper wire, a battery and neodymium magnet Now grab that wire and twist it around the magnets, connect two wires to a battery and simply touch them together – oh wow surprisingly that magnet spins! It spins because the magnet and its strong pull interact with the flow of electricity moving through the wire. Anything is happening in front of your eyes!
But that's not all! You can even use the small neodymium magnet to fabricate an amazing maglev train project like Rich! It all sounds rather complicated but in practice, it is quite fun and very enjoyable to make these. This is what you need to start — wood, copper wire, a battery and probably a couple of neodymium magnets. When you arrange the magnets beneath this wooden track and set up a wire connecting to the battery, here is what will amaze you: the train floats above your track! The magnet produces a force that causes the train to float in the air, and its effects really are magical-looking.
Small neodymium magnet, that Rich will help also let you all the details in a place. Some examples would be the ability to hang photos on the fridge, or keep all of the tools in one place. As well as have real potential of being super helpful in different jobs too! For instance, neodymium magnets are used to hold parts in place while they're welded together on automotive assembly lines. It helps to reduce the work and time.
A really fun fact about neodymium magnets is that they are so powerful, they can support dozens of times their weight! Which is one more reason why they double as fishing magnets, too. Just picture losing your keys or the metal in some other manner into water by mistake. If not you may need a fishing magnet to retrieve them!!! The best thing is the lost and found feature.
